The Institute of Play
The Institute of Play is the founding partner of Quest to Learn and core design partner for ChicagoQuest. A non-profit organization focused on activating the next generation of engaged citizens, the Institute brings together game design, rigorous research practices and strong interdisciplinary partnerships to create, study and promote game-based materials, strategies and systems as critical tools for personal and social development.
Quest to Learn (NY)
Quest to Learn is the first school in the United States organized around systems thinking and the principles of game design. Through an innovative pedagogy that immerses students in differentiated, challenge-based contexts, the school acknowledges design, collaboration, and systems thinking as key literacies of the 21st century.
Chicago International Charter School
Chicago International Charter School (CICS) is the largest charter operator in the state of Illinois. CICS was founded on the belief that every child has the right to a high quality education. The mission of Chicago International is: To provide, through innovation and choice, an attractive and rigorous college-preparatory education that meets the needs of today's students. CICS contracts with ChicagoQuest Schools to manage and operate the CICS ChicagoQuest campuses.
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation
The MacArthur Foundation's digital media and learning initiative aims to determine how digital media are changing the way young people learn, play, socialize and participate in civic life. Answers are critical to education and other social institutions that must meet the needs of this and future generations. MacArthur supported the research and development of Quest to Learn and has been a key partner in supporting the start-up and development of CICS ChicagoQuest.
The Digital Youth Network
The Digital Youth Network (DYN) gives students tools to be engaged, articulate, critical, and collaborative. Founded by Nichole Pinkard, a professor at DePaul University, DYN supports students' interest-driven engagement in new media using a mentor model that facilitates the development and sharing of expertise across age and generation.
HIVE Chicago
HIVE Chicago brings together civic and cultural institutions to create greater learning opportunities for youth. Through the creation of a learning network, youth will have multiple, continuous and connected opportunities to explore their intellectual and skill-based interests.
